Travel Safety Tips
Some Travel Tips for Safe Travel Overseas
- When possible register using your first initial and
last name. Females should not identify their gender such as Miss,
Mrs., or Ms.
- It is not a good idea in the event you need to make a
fast exit from your hotel room to spread your belongings across the
room. Each night you should pack most of your items (especially
critical papers and important belongings) in the event something goes
wrong and you need to leave.
- When away from your hotel room leave the television
or radio on. Also, place the don't disturb sign on the door.
- Purchasing one or two rubber door stops may work as
an extra barrier against intruders. In the event your door seems in
the least bit insecure, you can place them under the door for extra
protection.
- Be on guard when exiting the hotel exit for thieves.
- Pepper spray is not allowed on aircraft. However, it
is widely available in many countries. Make it a point to purchase
some as soon as possible after your arrival.
- If you are assaulted, screaming may startle the
attacker and provide you a few extra seconds to escape and or draw
attention to your predicament. You may also carry a whistle on you
which may have the same affect.
- If you are attacked remember, your whole mindset
should be getting away.
